Challenge
A European fintech company was scaling its real-time fraud detection platform across multiple Kubernetes clusters. Solution
The a9s Data Services (running on VMs with BOSH-based automation) provides robust implementations of a9s PostgreSQL and they transitioned from using MySQL to a9s MariaDB with built-in backups, monitoring, and upgrade automation. To integrate these services into their Kubernetes environment, they deployed Klutch, which exposes VM-based data services through a Kubernetes-native control plane. This allowed developers to self-provision production-ready databases without complexity, while the platform operators team retained centralized control over configuration, lifecycle, and compliance.
Impact
They experienced 3 times fewer misconfiguration incidents after replacing Helm charts with managed services. The platform ops team eliminated over 100 hours of manual database maintenance each month by replacing brittle, custom-built automation with the stability of BOSH-based a9s Data Services.
